Once the weather is consistently cold enough, The Loop skating rink at Bannerman Park in St. John’s opens for the season. People of all ages can come skate for free during opening hours which are 10am – 11pm daily, with the exception of ice maintenance times. Before heading out, you can call 733-LOOP (5667) to check on the ice status. Full details can be found on the City of St. John’s website.

There’s plenty of indoor public skating as well at Mile One, The Glaicer, and other local arenas. Check with your local arena for details!

2) Enjoy the Mount Pearl Frosty Festival

Mount Pearl’s annual Frosty Festival brings some much-needed joy to Newfoundland winters! With dozens of events for people of all age groups, you’re sure to find something fun to do. The 2020 lineup includes The Pedestrian Parade of Lights & Cauldron Lighting, Kevin Collins concert, Dinner and Dance, Kids Carnival, and more.
